I

I hate the word.

“I.”

“I,” what a hollow, selfish word to speak as the crowned lady takes prisoners. “I,” the vastness of an empty apartment, walls naked . “I,” a cell phone without messages.

“Darling.” “Sweetheart.” These are but ghosts of names, never to be spoken.

But can’t I be adopted by the we?

Please?

Hollowed Is respond.
